Period 6

The vast majority of Year 11 students have started this year demonstrating huge commitment to their studies by attending Period 6 sessions.

Although Year 11 can be a little daunting for many it is also a very exciting year full of opportunities, new experiences, rewards and celebrations. Throughout the year there will be many occasions where we recognise the work and commitment of students. Already, we have awarded students with prize draws for those who have attended Period 6, have 100% attendance and have gained the most achievement points.

There is a vast amount of content for teachers to get through in Year 10 and 11. This often doesn’t leave as much time as we would like to re-teach any areas that students find difficult. Curriculum Leaders at Wrenn complete Question Level Analysis of every mock examination that students take, meaning that they can see exactly where students across the cohort are losing marks. Alongside this, teachers keep a close eye on what students know and are able to do in smaller assessments and in lessons generally. They are able to use all of this information to plan Period 6 lessons that can effectively plug those knowledge gaps. Where students have gaps, they will be invited to Period 6 sessions via e-mail. We strongly recommend that students attend these sessions as they have been designed specifically for them. Even if a student hasn’t been invited, ALL students are welcome to attend these sessions. We reward students for good attendance to Period 6 every couple of weeks.
