Attendance

Excellent attendance for all students is a priority at Wrenn.

The more time students spend in school the better able they are to learn and socialise. We have an extensive attendance team who work with parents to remove barriers that prevent students from attending school, to ensure that all students can be happy and successful at Wrenn.

How do I report an Absence?

We no longer take absence requests via email.  To report an absence for your child, please use the online forms via the relevant link or QR code below.

When does the school day start?

Students are expected to be on-site by 8:40am for line-ups, before heading to registration. A student who misses registration is counted as absent for the whole morning, which can have a big impact on their attendance.

Why is attendance so important?

There is a large body of evidence showing that students who are persistently absent from school do not achieve the exam results they are capable of and are significantly more likely to be at risk in the wider community.

Who should I notify about a term time holiday?

Any request for term time holiday must be made to the Principal, Laura Parker (laura.parker@wrennschool.org.uk). If the school is not notified about a holiday beforehand, it must be recorded as unauthorised.

Why has a member of the attendance team visited me?

If a student hasn’t been in school for three days and we haven’t heard from you, we are a likely to visit. This is to check that everything is okay, and to discuss any support we can offer as the student returns to school.

For further detail please refer to our Pupil Attendance Policy, which is on our Policies page or refer to the North Northamptonshire Council website.

Why do I have an email from A Star Attendance?

This year our attendance team are using an Attendance Admin software package called A Star Attendance.

If your child's attendance does fall below 92% at any point within the school year you may receive an email from A Star Attendance with a subject of Student Attendance Letter. The email contains a link to open the Wrenn School letter, this is to allow the software to log the date/time the letter was read and to keep the contents of the letter secure.

Please be reassured that communications from A Star Attendance are real and genuine school communications. If you have any concerns regarding any A star Communications, please contact our Attendance Coordinator via katy.lloyd@wrennschool.org.uk
